Leaving

The ANZACs made a self firing rifle some water would be in a can the water would then fall in another can this made the rifle fire. The ANZACs also played a few games of cricket to distract the Turks so other people got to the ships and when they fired shells at the ANZACs they would pretend to field the bullets.

More about the donkey man

Before Simpson had his donkey he carried soldiers in a two man stretchers he did it with his friends. You had to be very strong to carry a two man stretcher with a injured soldier in it. But when he found the donkey on the beach his carrying troubles were over. Once he got the donkey it was much easier the donkey was great for going down steep hills  they saved alot of lives together. Sadly he died.

The last post

The last post is a song that you play on a bugle. A bugle sort of looks like a trumpet. When it is the end of the day the last post is played.  It represents the soldiers still lying in the fields and the injured.

famous

Famous soldiers
Leonard Keysor -  He was a bomb thrower who threw bombs but he also caught the bombs that the other side threw and threw them back.  He was a life saver.

Simpson and his donkey (the donkey man) - He walked around and put injured soldiers on his donkey and took them back to ANZAC Cove. After he died his sister was not told. She sent him a letter and a letter came back.  It said one word - killed.
Here are some questions I had to answer in class:
What does ANZAC stand for?   My answer was Australia New Zealand Army Corps.
Why do we celebrate ANZAC day at dawn?  I got because they landed at 3 am.
Where is Gallipoli?  In Turkey.
Why is 25th April special?  I got because the ANZACS landed on 25th April.
